PIEFA Conference 2023 KEYNOTE SPEAKERS

We’re excited to welcome an impressive line-up of leaders from ag, food and fibre education to participate as keynote speakers and presenters at PIEFA Conference 2023. 

THEME ONE: The Future of Primary Industries

MICHAEL McQUEEN
Michael is a multi-award winning speaker, trend forecaster and bestselling author of nine books. 
 
Michael will present on his unique insights into the future of the education sector, revealing the ways in which educators can keep their finger on the pulse of technological and societal trends. 
TROY SETTER
Troy is the CEO of Consolidated Pastoral Company and the Chairman of the Council of RDCs, LiveCorp and Dolly’s Dream.
 
Mr Setter is one of the top cattlemen and agribusiness leaders in the country.
EMMA GERMANO
Emma is Managing Director of her family mixed operation, I Love Farms. She is the current Victorian Farmers Federation President and Director of The Queen Victoria Market.
 
Emma strives to be a strong voice, representing Australian growers and ensuring a sustainable future for agriculture in Australia.

THEME TWO: Innovation in Agriculture

PROF. DAVID LAMB 
David is the Chief Scientist of Food Agility. He holds Adjunct and Visiting Professor appointments at UNE, CSU and the University of Technology Sydney. Prof. Lamb is an inspiring leader in agriculture innovation.
RENEE ANDERSON
Renee represents Cotton Australia in the Central Highlands in Queensland by providing information, advice, education and services designed to up-skill and advocate for cotton growers and the Australian cotton Industry.
NATASA SIKMAN
Nataša is the Senior Climate Policy Manager at the Australian Forest Products Association (AFPA). Nataša is  passionate about evidence-based scientific policy development, particularly focused on sustainable nature-based solutions and the opportunities in the bio-economy to combat climate change.

THEME THREE: Successes and Innovation in Education

SCOTT GRAHAM
Scott Graham is changing the way agricultural science is taught at secondary schools, by developing unique programs to engage students and emphasise the importance of agriculture in Australia, and the rewarding employment opportunities on offer.
GULLARA McINNES

Gullara is studying a dual degree of science and law at JCU (James Cook University) in Cairns. Gullara uses drone technology to map traditional land, inspiring young indigenous women to pursue careers in STEM along the way.

FRASER BORDER

Fraser is a robotics engineer and the founder of IntegratedSTEM. With an extensive background in robotics and education, Fraser is passionate about the intersection of these fields and is committed to making STEM education accessible and engaging for all learners. 

THEME FOUR: Careers and Workforce in Primary Industries

PROF. JIM PRATLEY 
Professor Pratley is Research Professor of Agriculture at Charles Sturt University, having previously held the position of Foundation Dean of Science and Agriculture from 1990 until 2006. 
NICOLE McDONALD
Nicole McDonald holds a PhD in the Vocational Psychology of Agriculture. In 2020 she joined CQU, expanding her contributions to include career development projects for primary and secondary school students. 
KARI MOFFAT
Kari is the Animal Welfare Assurance Manager for AUSTREX and was awarded the Livestock Exporter Young Achiever of the Year in 2021. She is dedicated to sustainability and continuous improvement in the export industry.
ANTHONY LEE
Anthony Lee is CEO and a director of the ACC Group, the world’s largest paddock-to-plate family-owned and operated cattle and beef business. He holds a Bachelor of Business Management and is the proud father of four children.
HARDY MANSER
Mr Manser transitioned from working in Animal Health to teaching and is currently completing a higher research degree in Agricultural Education at Charles Sturt University, looking at educations role in developing the Agricultural Workforce. 
WORKSHOP SESSIONS
Our workshop sessions will deliver hands-on and interactive opportunities for delegates to get involved in food and fibre education.
