STORM AND FLOOD INDUSTRY RECOVERY PROGRAM
Creating resilience through empowering school curriculums about careers in primary industries.
Building resilience in Primary Industries through education – Evaluation
As environmental challenges to agriculture intensify due to the increasing frequency and severity of natural disasters, the resilience of Primary Industries is reliant on continuing development of a workforce capable of driving productivity and sustainability. The Storm and Flood Industry Recovery Program (SFIRP): Creating resilience through empowering school curriculums about primary industries careers project addresses this by providing and promoting opportunities for studies of food, fibre and agriculture and associated careers that inspires students toward Primary Industries careers.
The Storm and Flood Industry Recovery Program offered by PIEFA was successful in achieving its project goals. The program provided practical support and learning opportunities for educators and careers advisors that were well received and had impact. The professional learning, resources and supports offered by the facilitation team, better enabled participating educators and careers advisors to encourage students towards and educate students for careers in Primary Industries.
