Cotton Australia Scholarships

Cotton Australia is offering scholarships to support two (2) early career teachers with a passion for learningare interested in exposure to the Australian cotton industry and want to attend the full PIEFA Conference in Canberra on 1-2 May, 2023. 

These scholarships are available to assist with costs associated for teachers to attend the conference, and will cover:
– Full conference registration
– One ticket to the Gala Dinner
– Two nights accommodation in Canberra at one of the conference’s preferred hotels

*The scholarship does not cover any costs relating to travel to/from the conference or any other incidentals.

Conference scholarships are open to teachers who:

1. are an Australian resident and new to teaching (1-5 years teaching)
2. has not previously attended a PIEFA Conference
3. is willing to provide Cotton Australia and Primary Industry Education Foundation Australia (PIEFA) permission to publish a news article/case study with their name, school and a photo
4. is able to attend the entire conference in Canberra from 1-2 May 2023, including attending the Cotton Australia workshop
5. is not already holding a scholarship or received a scholarship/travel bursary to attend the PIEFA Conference

To apply, please provide a written application (maximum of 500 words) outlining the following criteria:

  • how you came to be interested in the Australian cotton industry
  • confirmation that your school will release you from duties to attend the full conference (Welcome Reception on Sunday 30 April optional)
  • a summary of how attendance the conference will assist your teaching of food and fibre content
  • details about your teaching, e.g. where you teach, your teaching load (subjects, etc.), facilities where you teach (ag plot/science lab) and any community involvement or interests you have.

    APPLICATIONS CLOSE: Friday, 31 March 2023 at 5pm AEDST.  Successful applicants will be advised in the first week of April.
