Bringing Sustainability to Life in the Classroom: New Free Resources for Year 7-12

Are you ready to spark curiosity in your students and bring real-world sustainability into your lessons?

At PIEFA (Primary Industries Education Foundation Australia), we know how important it is to provide teachers with engaging, practical, and curriculum-aligned resources that connect students with the real world. We also know that agriculture offers one of the most powerful contexts to teach sustainability, STEM, geography, and business — all through a subject that affects every student: food and fibre production.

That’s why we’re excited to announce we’ve partnered with Nutrien Ag Solutions™ to develop a brand-new suite of FREE teaching resources for Year 7-12 classrooms across Australia. These resources don’t just tick the curriculum boxes—they’re designed to excite students, spark critical thinking, and open their eyes to the future of food, fibre, and sustainability.

The Sustainable Food and Fibre Production suite of resources make sustainability real – no more vague discussions about climate change! These lessons show students how real-world farmers and industry leaders are tackling sustainability challenges today. They connect students to agriculture in new ways, from soil science to cutting-edge agtech, demonstrating that agriculture isn’t just about farming — it’s about innovation, technology, business, and sustainability.

A comprehensive suite of classroom resources:

>> Lesson Plans & Student Activities | These ready-to-use lessons cover everything from soil chemistry and water management to precision farming and climate change. The activities include case studies, hands-on tasks, and engaging videos to bring sustainability to life.

>> The Sustainability Challenge Game | This hands-on card game challenges students to work in teams, problem-solve real agricultural challenges, and explore innovative solutions shaping the industry.

>> Career Videos | Let your students hear directly from real-world professionals working across the food and fibre supply chain. These videos showcase a wide range of career pathways, from high-tech agronomists to leaders in sustainability.

> Primezone Academy Online Courses | Designed for self-paced learning, these digital modules are packed with interactive elements, multimedia content, and quizzes. They’re perfect for extending classroom discussions.
